8 Tips to Loving Yourself
- Accept the Past. Without acceptance
it can be hard to move forward.
Things may not have been as you wished, child hood, family
life,
relationships. You can’t change the past but you can
accept and
acknowledge what has occurred.
- Love Yourself. Look in a mirror and
into your eyes every morning
and say to yourself “I like You” or “I
love You”.
Ask: “What can I do for you today?”
“What will make you happy?”
- Get Feedback. Get evidence! Ask family
and close friends what they
like about you. Ask: “What do you think my strengths
are?”
“What do you like about me?”
- Acknowledge Yourself. Write a list of
25 a) things you like about
yourself and b) what you have achieved in your life to date
- small,
medium and big items. Then read them out loud to yourself.
Now do
another 25!!
- Praise Yourself Everyday. At the end
of each day either driving home
or just before going to sleep think of 3 things that you
did today that you
were pleased about. It doesn’t have to be something
big!
- Stop Criticising Yourself. Check within
yourself. Do you put yourself
down by using criticising words like bad, dumb, stupid or
ugly?
Does that monkey in your head say things like “you’re
not good
enough?”, or “you can’t do that?”
To build self worth we need to stop
using this language and be kind and gentle to ourselves.
Try reframing
those negative words to something positive.
- Try it Right Now! Don’t wait until
tomorrow start liking and loving
yourself right now. Yes it’s hard but dissatisfaction
with self is a habit
and the habit needs to be broken. Don’t wait until
you get it right.
- Please Yourself Not Others. You are not
here to do what others want
or to please others. Are your decisions influenced by others?
Live the
life the way you want to.
